The Unitarian Universalist Church of Urbana Champaign (UUCUC), a vital, growing congregation of 300 adult members and 150 children and youth, seeks an Interim Director of Religious Education to guide the visioning process for a renewed lifespan religious education program for all ages. We recently completed a successful two-year ministerial interim process before calling a new settled minister, and we are enthusiastic and poised to re-envision our Religious Education program with an Interim Director of Religious Education.
Status: Full time; Salaried, Exempt
Deadline: Applications will be accepted through March 30, 2018, or until the position is filled. Applicants are encouraged to submit early. Applicants may be interviewed before the closing date, but no one will be offered the position until after March 30, 2018.
Beginning date: Between July 2 and August 13, 2018, for one- or two-year interim term (two-year preferred).
Salary: Commensurate with experience. UUCUC is committed to paying salaries for all staff at least at mid-range for our size (Midsize II) and Geo-index (3), as well as following UUA guidelines for staff benefits.

UUFE was founded in 1961 and we draw members and visitors from four counties, including the communities of Elkhart, Goshen, Middlebury, Nappanee, Bristol, Mishawaka, South Bend and Edwardsburg, Mich. We earned the designation of Welcoming Congregation and, as such, we are open and affirming of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
The person seeking this position should have an avid interest in ministering to (i.e. listening and practicing good communication) families and have a good rapport with children and youth. Even if the candidate is not currently familiar with the tenets of the UU faith, they should be able to research our websites and reach out to other professionals to facilitate a great program. The new coordinator will work closely with the RE (religious education) committee and the minister to ensure vital, healthy programs for elementary aged children, youth, teens, and to communicate well with their families.
Third Unitarian Church of Chicago is a diverse congregation of 80 members, located on the far west side of Chicago. We are in a time of re-building with a new minister committed to social justice. We seek a positive, creative, and dedicated person to join our staff team in this new emerging position, as part-time Outreach & Education Coordinator (OEC).
The OEC will work with our Minister and leaders to support congregational outreach and partnerships with Austin-area organizations, welcome newcomers to our congregation, and coordinate learning experiences for our young people.
Understanding and commitment to liberal religious values and to the spiritual and emotional growth of children and youth; Bachelor’s Degree preferred; excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively, and to accept direction and feedback. Ability to use word processing programs, email, and basic office equipment. Previous experience in community organizing, or education, are a bonus, but not required.
